Just Heard Thursday – Chicken Edition

jht-logo1

It’s Thursday again and we have been collecting some of the funny things we heard our kids say this week.  We would also love to read about what your kids are saying too.  We just get such a kick out of posts like these.  Here is some of what made us smile this week:

Rylee -“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy…we even dance with them too!”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Caleb (exasperated) – “I am overloaded with chicks.  I have chicks all over me.  (overheard from in the bathroom – we can only hope that any statement like this will only be made in reference to chickens)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Caleb – (holding a tiny chick in his hands up high in dramatic fashion) “The King of the Beasts!”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler – (looking sweetly into the eyes of his chicken) “You a trouble maker.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler – “Look Mama, I make him go to sleep”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Caleb – “Mama, will you get a kleenex and wipe my chicks bottom?”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Mama – “Why don’t you put yours back and let him rest?”

Kyler – “He told me he not want to go in there.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

(in the middle of a conversation with Mama)

Rylee – “What’s that?  Oh, sorry Mama, Fluff is calling me.”  (she then proceeds to run down the hall to the chicks to grab Fluffy, the fav chicken.)

________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee – “What are you looking at?”

Mama – “Fluff, I am just looking at Fluff”

Rylee – “What are you looking at fluff for?”

Mama – “I am just trying to figure out what kind of bird Fluff is.”

Rylee – “Mama, Fluff is a chicken!”

________________________________________________________________________________________

Things heard from Mama and Daddy:

“No actually, the chicken is not a sword”

“No chickens inside your clothes”

“Get the chick out of Audrey’s mouth!”

“The chicken is not a fire hose shooting water all over”

(Mama snuggling with Kyler tucking him in for the night, only one thing on his mind)

Kyler: (in a sweet but insistent tone) “You make me eggs.”

Mama: “Okay baby, in the morning.”

________________________________________________________________________________________

Daddy:  “I love you so much, I can’t imagine life without you.”

Caleb:  “I love you too!”

Daddy:  “I love all of you and I can’t imagine life without Caleb, Kyler, Rylee, or even little Audrey!”

Rylee:  “Or even Mama”

Daddy:  “I certainly can’t imagine life without Mama, she is amazing.”

Rylee:  “Without Mama, how would we eat?”

Another installment of Just SEEN Thursday

Rylee:  “Daddy, can I style your hair?”

Daddy:  “Of course you can.  How do you think Daddy should style it?”

Rylee:  “Umm…I will do it for you and you can see!”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Daddy: (not quite hearing what Mama and Nana were talking about…) “What was that?  Who was fussy?”

Caleb: (not at all knowing what Mama and Nana were talking about but eagerly jumping in by responding to me) “Rylee, she is sometimes fussy when she is getting her hair put up” (spoken from someone who hears this “fussiness” regularly almost each time the hair goes up)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

This exchange happened during Sojourn’s Palm Sunday Gathering in the kids teaching time.  Rylee was playing the part of Jesus and she sent two of her friends to go get the donkey.  Mama and Caleb went to go get the donkey.  After they brought the donkey to Jesus (Rylee) they began to lay out their jackets and branches for Jesus and the donkey to walk over.  While this was happening, Kyler took the donkey and took him off the path over to the couch.

Mama:  “Kyler, where are you going with the donkey?”

Kyler:  “The Jesus donkey need gasoween (gasoline in Kyler speak)”  And he began to pretend to pour something into the donkey.

Mama:  “But Kyler, donkey’s don’t take gas.”

Kyler:  “Jesus need gasoween.  He not go.  I give Jesus donkey gasoween.”

I couldn’t wait until Thursday for this one…Enjoy.

It’s Thursday again and we have been collecting some of the funny things we heard our kids say this week.  We would also love to read about what your kids are saying too.  We just get such a kick out of posts like these.  Here is some of what made us smile this week:

Caleb: (9:00pm after he’s been in bed for about an hour)” Mom…can you make me some sausage and panpapes, with syrup for dipping my sausage and syrup for my panpapes and to dip my sausage with?”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler: (with a rising fist to the air) “Rock on Dad!” (a new Kyler catch phrase)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler:  “Mama, look, raisins!”  (Not too funny until you realize he was looking at the rabbits in their cage at the farm!)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Daddy:  What are you looking forward to most about having chickens?

Rylee:  They are going to be chickies first!

Caleb:  We’re all going to be feeding them and we could look for the eggs to see if they have a crack every day.  And we can hold the baby chickens and put them by the heater.

Kyler:  I like chickies!

(After Kyler went running ahead of Rylee to the van wearing his little man capris pants, no socks, and blue converse)

Rylee:  “Look at him.  He is sooo cute!  I just want to squeeze him!”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

(At the dinner table)

Daddy: “Anyone need a napkin?”

Caleb:  “We don’t need napkins around here.  We just lick ourselves.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Mommy:  “Caleb, what do you want to do special for your birthday?”

Rylee:  “Maybe you want to go to the Space Needle”

Mommy:  “Actually it is Caleb’s birthday, what do YOU want to do Caleb?”

Caleb:  “I want to go to the Space Needle, actually I want to ride an airplane”

(This might be a tough one this year, not quite as cheap easy as a train ride)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

(After Maggie, the family dog, got done licking the dinner plate clean)

Rylee:  “Mama, we can just put this one away now, it is totally clean.  Maggie got it totally clean.”

It’s Thursday again and we have been collecting some of the funny things we heard our kids say this week.  We would also love to read about what your kids are saying too.  We just get such a kick out of posts like these.  Here is some of what made us smile this week:

(A Conversation at night tucking Rylee in for bed…often the best times for talking with her)

Rylee: “Mama, tell me what things you love about me”

Mama: “Wow, a lot of things…(I go on to list about 15 things I love about you)”.

Rylee: “Okay, now tell me some things you don’t like about me.”

Mama: “Well, I don’t like it when you talk back to me or when you-“

Rylee: “Nevermind, I don’t think this was a good idea, it might make me sad.  Can you guess who my girl friends are?”

Mama: “Thera and Chloe and Payton.”

Rylee: “Yes, and can you guess who my boy friends are?”

Mama: “Yes, Thomas, Aidan, Jake, Tommy, Zack, Adam, Aydin, Cole, Reese-“

Rylee: “That’s enough. But what about my best boy friend?”

Mama: “I don’t know. Who?”

Rylee: “I’ll give you a clue. He’s big, so big. He made the whole world. He’s everywhere.”

Mama: “God?”

Rylee: “Yep. It’s him.”

________________________________________________________________________________________

Caleb:  Why is there hair in the shower?

Rylee:  Because mommy is losing her hair.  It’s falling out all over.

Caleb:  Why is that?

Rylee:  She’s just losing it!

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee:  When people try to escape from prison, what happens?

Mama:  There are guards at the gates of the prison to keep them in

Rylee:  Do they have guns?

Mama:  Yes.

Rylee:  So if people leave they shoot at them?

Mama:  Well, maybe they might.

Rylee:  What do the guns shoot?  Do they shoot out labels?

(you might be wondering why Rylee thinks guns would shoot labels…around here, every once in a while there is one label gun that gets used extensively…click here for more details)

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee:  Caleb guess what?  It’s dinner time and I’m still wearing my jammies and I’m not wearing any pull ups or panties!

Hysterical laughter ensues.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Mama:  Why does the food that’s bad for us taste good?

Caleb:  Salt.  Lots of salt.

(this following a dinner trip to McDonalds in desperation)

Kyler – “Mama, put Audrey in here.  I wear Audrey.” (as he was putting Caleb’s Thomas the Train backpack on his front, like a frontpack for babies).  Karissa is certainly proud of this one.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee – While she was playing outside in the setting sun, I can hear her singing to her herself…”My God is mighty to save, He is mighty to save.  Jesus conquered the grave, He is mighty to save.”

________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler – “I go couch-I hold Audrey.”  This was maybe the fourth time that we have ever heard Kyler audibly tell us  that he wanted to hold Audrey…so it had to make the list!

———————————————————————————————————————————————–

Caleb – (to Audrey this morning in a very sweet voice) “Don’t bite my toes.  You know better than to bite my toes Audrey.  This cheerio is good to bite.  You can bite this but toes are not good for biting.  You know better than to do that.  This heater is off limits Audrey.  It will burn you.  You can go here or here but not here.”  I am so tickled to hear him looking out for her like this.  He still doesn’t interact very much with her.  It was darling.

Daddy: (after realizing that it has been about five minutes since Kyler was sent to the bathroom to wash his hands after dinner and it has been dangerously quiet) “It’s been a bit too quiet, where’s Kyler?”

Mommy:  “I don’t know”

Daddy: “That’s not good.  Kyler…what are you doing (loudly now down the hall).”

Kyler:  “I not know how to do this. (as he is coming down the hall holding a tampon in two pieces)

Rylee:  “What is that?”

Mommy: “I’ll tell you when you are older.”

Daddy: “So was that a t-a-m-p-o-n?

Mommy: “Yep”

Rylee:  “Did you say tah..teh..pon? (trying to phonetically put the sounds together”

Daddy: “Our days of spelling out loud are almost over”

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee – (to Audrey) “I’m so glad you are my sister. I would not be the same without you. I am so glad to have you. Mommy, you know how I feel, you know how it feels to get a sister. You remember when you were little and you got a baby sister don’t you? It feels so good. It is just so special.”

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Mommy: “Put the bacon down…right now.  The bacon is not a weapon.” (Instructing Kyler to not use the bacon like a sword)

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee – “I want us to have five kids, too” (to Kim, not Karissa for those counting at home!)

Rylee's drawing this week "Remember when Audrey was in your tummy-she was so tiny-it was so fun to be there when she was born!"

It’s Thursday again and we have been collecting some of the funny things we heard our kids say this week.  We would also love to read about what your kids are saying too.  We just get such a kick out of posts like these.  Here is a great example and this one had me almost out of my chair.

Here are a few things we heard around our house recently:

Rylee – “Oooh!  Daddy, I just burped and it hurt my heart. (long pause)  But it’s okay, it’s still beating.”

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Rylee – “Daddy, I wish I could change a poopie diaper for him.” (On Valentine’s Day when we were babysitting her cousin Isaac)

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Yoda – “What sound this is?” (Actually it was Kyler in a regular occurrence of a Yoda impression wondering what was making the ringing sound in the background)

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler – “Is coffee ready yet?” (Sunday AM waiting for his little cup of joe)

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Daddy – “So, is Kyler poopie or not?

Mommy – “I am not sure, I am not sure if he really was.”

Kyler – (Hollering authoritatively from down the hall) “Yeah…I is poopie”

We thought we would start a weekly posting of the funny things we heard our kids say.  It is a rare day when at least one of them doesn’t say something that catches us off guard or causes us to laugh.  We figured you all might get a kick out of some of these things as well.  All of you with kids know exactly what we are talking about and probably could write your own post about the funny things you heard, so go ahead and let us know about it; we would love to read what your kids are saying.  Here are a few things we heard around our house recently:

Caleb – “Mooooom!  It smells like a delicious stinky diaper in here!” (Caleb, smelling a certain package that Kyler delivered in his room, wanting to solve the problem but was trying really hard not to be rude about it.)

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Kyler – “Watch me.  Kyler is Superman!” (as he jumps off the arm couch, over his mama, and onto the other cushion.  We have another dare devil in the house and right now he’s talking in the 3rd person on a regular basis)

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Caleb – “Dad’s going to be the dragon…we need to go get his superpowered underwears!”
